400039 Jasminum x Stephanense
Jasminum 'stephanese' is a vine much hardier than it is sometimes given credit for. For the last few years it has proven to be evergreen in my garden, which is far from sheltered! It doesn't take long for new growth in spring to freshen the vine with variegated yellows, pinks, and glossy greens - these variations in leaf colour are one of the plants most charming features. These leaves turn to lush green in summer! The flowers of Jasmine 'stephanese' are very fragrant and shell pink in colour and ooze the strong fragrance of Jasmine, therefore to use this variety to its best effect plant this climber near archways and pergolas where you will reap its rich rewards each time you walk by, and you will indeed be stopped in your tracks by the very strong perfume. Stephanese will grow in full sun to partial shade and likes well-drained soil or compost if growing in a container. Covered in hundreds of flowers that cover the jasmine in summer this climber justly deserves the accolade given to it by The Royal Horticultural Society which has awarded this cultivar the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
