400020 Lonicera periclymenum 'Scentsation'
Here is the beautiful European honeysuckle vine in the form of a NEW cultivar, ‘Scentsation,’ more floriferous and fragrant than its parent, which is native to Europe and North Africa. The parent has naturalized in the United States where it is commonly known as woodbine, but ‘Scentsation’ being a NEW cultivar has many outstanding virtues with the added bonus of being a totally manageable vine in the garden. Its lush mid-green leaves line beige stems that twine their way upwards when given an arbour or nearby small tree giving you privacy and good screening too. The exceptionally fragrant, large tubular flowers are ivory to creamy bright yellow, and borne in generous clusters, just smothering the plant and 'Scentsation' is bred for its repeat flower capabilities too. The highly fragrant sweet scented blooms are produced in abundance from spring to late summer and are followed by bright red berry fruits that are attractive and may remain after leaves fall, ideal for cutting to make beautiful, bright, berry runners to enjoy indoors over the holidays. Wild birds relish the red berries too and they are perfect food for them when there is not much around. This quick to establish vine can tolerate a wide range of soils and light-levels. Grow this vine on a fence, trellis or arbour for many seasonal rewards from a plant that asks for little in return.
