400011 Lonicera' Chocolate Henry'
Everyone has room for this handsome evergreen climber which is easy to grow and quick to grow and will provide privacy for you in places other plants are hard to establish. Honeysuckle Lonicera 'henryi' as it is also known is a fully hardy rarely encountered evergreen climber with handsome, glossy dark green leaves which are retained all year round. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by insects, ensuring a high chance of plentiful berries, which the birds adore and these supply them with an early autumn treat! This honeysuckle also has the benefit of being able to grow in semi-shade or no shade and it thrives in moist soil. 'Henryi' has chocolate purple-red flowers with beautiful yellow throats and these blooms are carried from early summer through to early autumn. The flowers are followed by small berries which are purplish-black in colour with a light waxy bloom. Well suited for scrambling over arbours, pergolas, boundary walls and because of its glossy dark leaves it is useful for covering unsightly objects which might also be in a shady part of the garden. The common name for this elegant climbing plant is Henry's Honeysuckle. Brilliant for screening and blocking out nosey neighbours too! Every garden should have a Chocolate Henry!
